Happy Holidays!
I wanted to take a moment to wish each and every one of you a happy and healthy holiday season.
I can’t thank you enough for your support this year.
2011 has been a trying year for many of our hard-working families, and the constant bickering and inaction we have seen in Washington does not instill the greatest confidence that things will get better.
But they are, and that is because you and I have been committed for the past year to working together to make a difference in our community.
Thankfully, we are starting to see the fruits of our labors.
Last month, I announced that the transfer and development of the former South Weymouth Naval Air Station into Southfield had been finalized.
That translates into the creation of over 10,000 new permanent and construction jobs.
10,000 new jobs in our area! This project has been years in the making, but it was pushed over the goal line when I implored the Environmental Protection Agency and the Navy to sit down together so they could iron out the final details.
Now, we can look forward to the numerous benefits that will come from Southfield, the largest active development anywhere in this area.
The Southfield project is a high note on which to end 2011, and if the 10,000 new jobs coming to our community indicates anything, it's that together we can achieve great things. This project is a direct result of our cooperation, collaboration and - above all else - a commitment to creating new jobs in Massachusetts, and I couldn't continue to fight for our families without you behind me.
I sincerely thank you for all your support - today and throughout the entire year. I feel truly blessed to have so many wonderful people standing with me.
I wish you and your families a peaceful and happy holiday season and look forward to a bright 2012.
Sincerely,
Bill Keating
