FRANK AND KEATING TOUR LOCAL NEW BEDFORD BUSINESSES
Bourne, MA – On Monday, February 13, 2012, Congressmen Barney Frank and Bill Keating toured New Bedford businesses to talk about job creation in the area. They were joined on the tour by Sen. William Straus and Rep. Chris Markey. All three officials have endorsed Congressman Keating in his re-election bid for the newly-configured 9th congressional district.
"Having worked with Bill Keating when he was the District Attorney for much of the area that I was representing, and particularly since serving with him over the past year in the House of Representatives, I believe he will do an excellent job representing the Greater New Bedford area,” said Congressman Frank. “I have been particularly impressed with his understanding of the importance of fighting for appropriate federal policies for the fishing industry."
“I am honored to have the endorsement of three public servants whom I respect and admire greatly,” said Congressman Keating. “I have known Barney, in particular, since my days in the State House and to have him standing with me makes me incredibly proud. On Monday, we will be touring businesses in New Bedford because one of my main priorities is job creation in our area. We are in a unique position to both support the local businesses providing the foundation of the South Coast economy while encouraging new industries to move their plants or open their offices here. I am focused on seizing this opportunity for the South Coast.”
Congressmen Frank and Keating, along with Sen. Straus and Rep. Markey, visited businesses and factories in the morning and stopped by the New Bedford Chamber of Commerce and had lunch at the Commons.
